Designated Responsible Person – Security Awareness

By |October 15th, 2012|Uncategorized|0 Comments

We are currently offering a “Designated Responsible Person” training course, aimed at shop floor employees of any business where it would be advantageous to have staff trained in general security awareness, fire safety awareness, conflict management and emergency management, among other subjects.

This new ILM Associates Ltd designed course is based on Security Industry Authority approved material, as taught to licensed security operatives and is accredited by our awarding body, the National Open College Network.

The course includes staff handover practices, communication, health and safety at work, law awareness and even counter- terrorism awareness and is designed to maximise safety and operational effectiveness in the workplace across a broad spectrum of possible situations, from everyday operations to emergencies. It has been designed by ILM’s own instructing staff of former police and armed forces members, drawing on their own extensive training and experience.

Trained staff are an asset to any business, assisting with the day to day smooth running and success of the organisation but can also contribute considerably to wider issues if the need arises.

Our course is delivered in approximately 5 hours, at the customer’s venue, minimising the amount of time staff are away from their core role but maximising the knowledge being made available to them within that time.

Mandatory Physical Intervention Training

By |August 8th, 2012|Uncategorized|0 Comments

Physical intervention training is to become mandatory for all door supervisors when they renew their SIA licence from February next year.

This training is already a compulsory part of the current nationally-recognised Award in Door Supervision introduced from June 2010. It is now to also become a requirement for those with the previous door supervision qualifications.

From 4 February 2013, all door supervisors with one of the older qualifications will need to pass the new ‘Up-Skilling Door Supervisors’ award before they are able to renew their SIA licence.

The award includes physical intervention skills training, awareness of terrorist threats, considerations in dealing with 14 to 18 year-olds and first aid awareness. Being trained in the appropriate techniques and how to use them will help door staff to manage difficult situations, minimising the risk of injury to members of the public and to themselves.

Any individual who currently holds a door supervisor licence but does not carry out licensable activities in this sector can, after 4 February 2013, on renewal of their licence obtain instead a security guarding licence and will not have to take the additional training.

ILM Associates Ltd provide this necessary and mandatory Up-Skilling Physical Intervention training as a stand alone qualification to companies and individuals who currently hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor licence to enable you to apply for your SIA licence or a renewal of currently held licence.
