ILM SIA Approved PI Programme

This programme has been NOCN approved and appears on the SIA website list of approved providers for physical intervention training. This programme has been developed to provide candidates with the knowledge, understanding and skills to be able to safely and competently demonstrate the use of physical intervention techniques and associated factors.

Conversion Course

This course has been developed for existing level 3 Physical Intervention trainers who are currently using an alternative training programme and wish to re-qualify and/or convert to our programme. This is a 1 Day course which provides trainers with all the information and material they will need to deliver the Physical intervention element of the Level 2 Door Supervisor qualification. Upon successful completion, a licence agreement and certificate will be issued which is valid for 1 year. In order to undertake our conversion course, you must have the Level 3 Award for the Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry (QCF).

 

The NOCN level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry (QCF)

This qualification has been designed for those who wish to deliver physical intervention skills to those who work in the private security industry. The NOCN Level 3 Award for Deliverers of Physical Intervention Training in the Private Security Industry (QCF) is a 4-credit vocationally related qualification, consisting of two mandatory units:

– Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry (F/601/2503)
– Delivering Physical Intervention Training (R/600/6303).

The qualification has two aims:
– To develop the trainer’s physical intervention skills to the standards required.
– To develop the trainer’s skills in teaching and assessing physical intervention skills whilst maintaining a safe learning environment.

Achievement of this qualification is a mandatory requirement of the SIA for trainers who wish to deliver training in physical intervention skills as part of the Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry. To complete this course trainers must have obtained:

– A teacher/trainer qualification Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.
– A qualification in the Delivery of Conflict Management Training at Level 3 or equivalent.

Either or both of the above qualifications can be delivered together with the Level 3 Award for the Delivery of Physical Intervention training as a bespoke integrated programme.

Learners undertaking this qualification will use ILM’s SIA approved physical intervention programme and will have the option to take out a ILM licence agreement which is valid for 1 year, which can be renewed annually.

Upon successful achievement of this qualification you would be able to deliver all units within the Level 2 Award for Working as a Door Supervisor within the Private Security Industry, providing you have gained approval from the awarding body. In order to gain approval you would need to show:

  • Certification
  • Licence Agreement with an SIA approved programme provider
  • Insurance requirements
  • Sector / Core competency
